Memphis was the 2nd most dangerous city in America in 2015.

Memphis's crime rate has been decreasing since 2006, but it's still very high.  Be very cautious of using the public buses.  .

Crime rate is the highest downtown and south Memphis.  (Graceland, Airport, and the Greyhound Bus Station are located in South Memphis.)  I would use the direct shuttle from Sun Studios to get to and from Graceland or a cab/uber/lyft.  I would use a cab/uber/lyft to go to and from the airport and greyhound.  The Megabus station is located downtown.

Memphis Websites to Check:

Choose901 is a movement of passionate Memphians who want to invest and enjoy their lives in the Bluff City.

These are the people who know and believe that Memphis isn’t becoming a good city, but is already a great city. A real city with problems that need to be solved. A growing city with opportunities to be seized. A fun city with so much to enjoy.
Choose901 exists to share these great things and introduce these great people to each other while being a positive megaphone to the rest of the world.
We hope this passion to make a difference and have a blast will spread to those who live outside and inside the 901. That they would hear these stories, see these opportunities and be compelled to join the movement.

Here are a few things you might want to know about ILoveMemphis site:

Purpose
The blog is meant to be a resource for what’s going on with Memphis music, food, arts, events, sports, people, and culture. Memphians love Elvis and barbeque with a passion that must be seen to be believed, but let me tell you, there is so much more to this place. This blog aims to show that.

History
Kerry Crawford was the first I Love Memphis blogger from 2009 to 2013. During her tenure, she helped ignite a passion for Memphis by sharing parts of the city that are lovable. In September 2013, I came on board. Like Kerry did, I run this blog full time for the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Loving Memphis
It’s important to tell people that you love them, but the real lovin’ comes from learning more about what makes them tick, supporting them despite their rough edges, and just having fun with them. I bet you can see where I’m going with this. (Hint: replace “them” with “Memphis”.)

Reader Input
I spend my days searching the city and talking to as many people as I can, but I need your help, too. Tell me what’s going on in your neighborhood. Tell me about the things you find that are offbeat and off-the-beaten-path.
If you have questions about Memphis, I can help you with that. You can leave a comment on the blog
